Is there a minimum review length?

Review character requirements.

There's a minimum of around 20 characters, but no pressure to write a novel. A few honest, specific sentences are more helpful than a long, vague paragraph. Focus on quality over quantity — even a short review with a photo makes a meaningful difference for other shoppers.

Review Length Guidelines

Minimum: Approximately 20 characters. This ensures reviews contain at least some useful content rather than just a single word.

Maximum: Reviews can be up to 500-1,000 characters depending on the system. This is plenty of space to describe your experience, mention pros and cons, and share helpful details.

Sweet spot: 2-5 sentences covering what you liked, any concerns, and whether the product matched the listing. This takes less than a minute to write and gives other shoppers the information they need.

Short Reviews That Are Genuinely Helpful

You don't need paragraphs to be useful. These short examples pack real value:

"Fits perfectly, true to size chart. Fabric is soft and well-made. Arrived in 7 days." — 3 sentences covering fit, quality, and shipping.

"Smaller than expected — about 6 inches, not 8 like I assumed. Quality is nice though. Check the dimensions before ordering." — honest, specific, and saves others from the same surprise.

"Beautiful color, matches the listing photos exactly. Bought as a gift and the recipient loved it." — confirms color accuracy and gift-worthiness.

Each of these is under 150 characters but tells future buyers something genuinely useful.

What Makes Any Review Length Useful

Be specific. "Great product" meets the minimum but doesn't help anyone. "Great product — the magnetic closure is strong and it fits my iPad Pro perfectly" is specific and actionable.

Mention what matters. A few words about quality, sizing accuracy, color match, shipping speed, or packaging condition — whatever stood out in your experience.

Add a photo. A single photo paired with even a brief review is more valuable than a long review with no photo. Customer photos show other shoppers exactly what to expect.

Include sizing feedback (for fitted items). Even just "I usually wear M and this M fit perfectly" or "Runs small — order one size up" helps others choose the right size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I leave just a star rating without text? A: Our review system typically requires both a star rating and some written text. Even a brief comment adds context to your rating and helps other shoppers understand why you gave that score.

Q: Is a longer review better? A: Not necessarily. A concise, specific review is more helpful than a rambling, vague one. Write enough to communicate your experience clearly — if that's 2 sentences, that's perfect. If you have more to share, go for it.

Q: What if I don't know what to write? A: Answer these simple questions in your review: Does it match the listing? What's the quality like? Would you buy it again? That's a complete review. For more tips, see our article: What Should I Include in My Product Review?
