How recent are product reviews?

Understanding review timing and relevance.

Reviews are continuously updated as customers receive and evaluate their purchases. There's no delay or batch processing — when a customer submits a review, it appears on the product page. The most recent reviews are shown first by default, giving you the freshest feedback at the top.

How the Review Timeline Works

When reviews are posted: Customers can leave reviews after their order has been delivered. Most reviews are posted within a few days to a few weeks of delivery. Some customers update their reviews after extended use, adding long-term feedback that's especially valuable.

How they're displayed: Reviews are sorted with the most recent first by default. This means the feedback you see at the top of the reviews section reflects the current state of the product — current quality, current shipping experience, and the seller's current service level.

Each review shows its date. You can see exactly when each review was written, making it easy to assess how current the feedback is.

Why Recent Reviews Matter

Products can change over time. A seller might improve their product based on customer feedback, change materials or suppliers, update packaging or shipping methods, or adjust sizing. Reviews from six months ago may not reflect the current version of the product.

Seller performance evolves. A seller who had slow shipping a year ago may have improved dramatically — or a previously excellent seller may have declined. Recent reviews give you the current picture.

Seasonal factors. Shipping times and carrier performance vary by season. Reviews from December (peak holiday volume) may mention slower delivery that doesn't apply during quieter months.

How to Use Review Dates Effectively

Prioritize recent reviews. When evaluating a product, give more weight to reviews from the past few months. These reflect what you're most likely to experience.

Look for trends. If older reviews are mostly positive but recent ones are increasingly negative (or vice versa), that trend tells you something important about the product's current trajectory.

Compare old and new. If a product has reviews spanning a long period, comparing early reviews to recent ones can reveal whether the seller has improved or declined over time. Consistent positive reviews across a long timeframe are the strongest indicator of reliability.

Check review photos by date. Recent photos show the current version of the product. Older photos may show a previous version with different materials, colors, or packaging.

Sorting and Filtering Reviews

Most product pages let you sort and filter reviews to find the most relevant feedback:

Most Recent — newest reviews first. The default view and usually the most useful starting point.

Most Helpful — reviews that other shoppers found useful, based on "helpful" votes. These tend to be detailed, balanced, and include specific information.

By Star Rating — filter for specific ratings (5-star, 1-star, etc.) to see what delighted customers and what disappointed them.

Verified Purchases — filter for reviews from confirmed buyers for the most trustworthy feedback.

With Photos — filter for reviews that include customer photos showing the actual product received.

What If a Product Has No Recent Reviews?

Few recent reviews doesn't mean the product is bad. It may be a newer listing, a niche product with lower volume, or an item that customers love but don't feel compelled to review. Check the overall rating and total review count for the bigger picture.

Older reviews are still useful. If the most recent review is 3-4 months old but the product has dozens of consistently positive reviews, that's still a strong signal. The product likely hasn't changed significantly.

Check the seller's other products. If this specific product lacks recent reviews, the seller's other listings may have fresh feedback that tells you about their current shipping speed, packaging quality, and customer service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I sort reviews by date? A: Yes. Most product pages default to showing the most recent reviews first. If a different sorting is active, look for a "Most Recent" or "Newest" sort option.

Q: How soon after delivery can I leave a review? A: You can leave a review once your order shows as delivered. We send a review request email after delivery with a direct link. You can also go to "My Orders" and click "Write a Review" on any delivered order.

Q: Are old reviews ever removed? A: Reviews aren't removed based on age. Older reviews remain on the product page as part of the product's history. Only reviews that violate our community guidelines are removed.

Q: I see reviews from years ago. Is the product still the same? A: Possibly, but not guaranteed. Sellers can update products over time. If the product has recent reviews consistent with older ones, it's likely unchanged. If there's a gap in review dates or a shift in feedback tone, the product may have been updated. When in doubt, message the seller to ask about the current version.
