Why is my refund taking so long?

Understanding refund delays.

Most refunds are completed within 3-5 business days after being issued, but the total timeline from return to refund in your account can be up to 1-2 weeks. Several steps need to happen in sequence, and each one takes a bit of time. Here's the full timeline so you know exactly where your refund is.

The Refund Timeline

Step 1: Return Initiated (Day 1) You contact us to request a return. We review your request and approve it, typically within 1-2 business days.

Step 2: Item Returned (Varies) If a physical return is required, you ship the item back. Transit time depends on your location, the return destination, and the carrier. Domestic returns typically take 3-7 business days in transit. Some cases (defective items, wrong items) may not require a physical return — we'll let you know.

Step 3: Return Received and Inspected (1-2 Days) Once the returned item arrives, it's inspected to confirm it's unused and in original condition with packaging. This is typically completed within 1-2 business days of receipt.

Step 4: Refund Issued (Same Day or Next Day) After inspection approval, the refund is initiated through our payment system. You'll receive an email confirming the refund has been processed.

Step 5: Refund Appears in Your Account (3-5 Business Days) This is the part where most waiting happens — and it's not in our control. After we issue the refund, your bank or payment provider processes it on their end. Processing times vary by payment method:

Credit Cards: 3-5 business days. Some banks take up to 7 business days, and the refund may appear as a credit on your next statement rather than an immediate balance change.

Debit Cards: 3-5 business days. Some banks process debit refunds slightly slower than credit card refunds.

PayPal: 1-3 business days. PayPal refunds tend to be faster than card refunds. The refund appears in your PayPal balance or is returned to the original funding source.

Afterpay/Klarna: Refund timing follows the BNPL provider's process. Remaining payments are adjusted or cancelled, and payments already made are refunded through the provider. Check the Afterpay or Klarna app for the most current status.

Store Credit/Wallet: Immediate to 24 hours. If your refund was issued as store credit, it's typically available in your wallet right away.

Total Typical Timeline

For a straightforward return with physical item shipped back: approximately 7-14 business days from initiating the return to seeing the refund in your account. For returns that don't require sending the item back (seller error, damaged item): approximately 3-7 business days total.

Why It Might Take Longer

Weekends and holidays. Business days don't include weekends or major holidays. A refund issued on Friday may not begin processing at your bank until Monday.

Bank processing varies. Some banks are faster than others. We have no control over how quickly your bank credits the refund to your account after we've issued it on our end.

International refunds. Cross-border refund processing can take slightly longer due to international banking transfer times and currency conversion.

High-volume periods. During major sales events and holiday seasons, both our team and banks may process slightly slower due to higher volumes.

The return is still in transit. If you've shipped the item back but the refund hasn't been issued yet, the return package may still be in transit to the seller. Track your return shipment to confirm delivery.

How to Check Your Refund Status

Check your email. We send a confirmation email when your refund is issued. If you've received this email, the refund is on its way — your bank just needs to process it.

Check your account. Log into "My Orders" and look at the order status. It should reflect the refund if it's been processed on our end.

Check your bank statement. Look for a pending credit from INSPIREUPLIFT, PAYPAL *INSPIREUPLI, or similar. Some banks show refunds as "pending" before they fully clear.

Contact your bank. If we've confirmed the refund was issued more than 7 business days ago and you still don't see it, contact your bank. They may have the refund pending in their system or can provide more specific timing.

When to Contact Us

Reach out if you haven't received a refund confirmation email and it's been more than 5 business days since your return was delivered, you received a refund confirmation but the money hasn't appeared after 7+ business days, the refund amount doesn't match what you expected, or you're unsure where your return or refund stands in the process.

Contact us with your order number and we'll check the exact status — whether we're waiting on the return, processing the refund, or it's already been issued and is with your bank.

Q: Can I get my refund faster? A: We process refunds as quickly as possible on our end — usually same-day or next-day once a return is approved or the item is received. The 3-5 business day wait is on the bank's side and outside our control. PayPal and store credit refunds are the fastest options.

Q: Can I get my refund as store credit instead of back to my card? A: In some cases, yes — store credit is faster and can be used immediately. Mention this preference when initiating your return and we'll let you know if it's an option for your situation.

Q: The refund amount is less than what I paid. Why? A: If your original order total included shipping and the return was for a change-of-mind reason (not a seller error), shipping costs may not be included in the refund. If a coupon or discount was applied, the refund reflects the amount you actually paid. If the amount still seems wrong, contact us with your order number and we'll review.

Q: I returned multiple items. Will I get one refund or multiple? A: It depends on how the return was processed. You may receive one combined refund or separate refunds for each item. Check your bank statement for multiple credits if you returned several items.

Q: My bank says they don't see a refund. What now? A: Contact us with your order number. We'll verify the refund was issued and provide a transaction reference your bank can use to trace it. Sometimes refunds are processed under a different descriptor than the original charge, which can make them hard to spot.
