Can I filter reviews by rating?

Finding specific types of product feedback.

Yes! You can filter product reviews by star rating to quickly find the feedback that matters most to you. Whether you want to read only 5-star raves or dig into the 1-star critiques, filtering lets you focus on the reviews that help you make a confident purchase decision.

How to Filter Reviews

  1. Navigate to the product page you're interested in
  2. Scroll down to the Reviews section
  3. Look for filtering options near the top of the reviews — typically star rating buttons (1-5 stars), a dropdown menu, or clickable bars in the ratings summary
  4. Click on a specific star rating to see only reviews with that rating
  5. Click again or select "All" to return to the full review list

Available Review Sorting and Filtering Options

Depending on the product page, you may be able to filter and sort reviews by:

Star Rating (1-5 Stars) — Click a specific star count to see only those reviews. Want to know what customers love? Filter for 5 stars. Want to know what went wrong for some buyers? Check 1 and 2 stars.

Most Recent — See the newest reviews first. Recent reviews are often the most relevant since they reflect current product quality and the seller's latest shipping performance.

Most Helpful — Reviews that other shoppers found useful are surfaced first. These tend to be detailed, specific, and include both pros and cons.

Verified Purchases — Filter for reviews from customers who are confirmed to have bought the product through our platform. Verified purchase reviews carry more weight since the reviewer definitely received and used the product.

Reviews With Photos — Some products let you filter for reviews that include customer photos. Photo reviews are among the most valuable since they show you exactly what the product looks like in real life, not just in the seller's professional listing photos.

How to Get the Most From Reviews

Read a balanced mix. Don't just read 5-star reviews — check the 3-star and lower ratings too. Five-star reviews tell you what's great, 1-2 star reviews reveal potential issues, and 3-4 star reviews often give the most balanced and nuanced perspective, mentioning both pros and cons.

Look for patterns. If multiple reviews mention the same issue ("runs small," "color is darker than pictured," "shipping was slow"), that's a reliable signal. One negative review might be an outlier — five reviews mentioning the same problem is a pattern worth noting.

Prioritize recent reviews. A product with great reviews from two years ago but recent negative ones may have changed in quality. Sort by newest to see the current picture.

Check photo reviews. Customer photos show the product in real conditions — actual colors, real sizing on real people, and how the item looks in everyday settings. These are often more honest than seller photos.

Consider the review count. A product with 4.7 stars from 500 reviews is more reliable than one with 5 stars from 3 reviews. More reviews mean a more statistically reliable rating.

Read what matters to you. If sizing is your concern, look for reviews that mention fit. If durability matters, look for reviews from buyers who've had the product for a while. If you're buying a gift, look for reviews that mention packaging and presentation.

Understanding Star Ratings

5 Stars — Excellent. Customer is highly satisfied. Product met or exceeded expectations.

4 Stars — Very good. Minor issues but overall positive. Often the most informative reviews — they praise what's good while noting small drawbacks.

3 Stars — Mixed. The product has both positives and negatives. Read these carefully — the specific pros and cons help you decide whether the tradeoffs work for you.

2 Stars — Below expectations. Significant issues but not completely terrible. Check whether the complaints are deal-breakers for your use case.

1 Star — Poor experience. Read the details — sometimes 1-star reviews are about shipping delays rather than product quality, which may not reflect the product itself. Other times they reveal genuine quality problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I filter reviews on the mobile app? A: Review filtering options are available on product pages in both the app and mobile browser. The interface may look slightly different on mobile, but the functionality is the same — look for star rating buttons or a filter/sort option near the reviews section.

Q: What does "Verified Purchase" mean? A: A "Verified Purchase" badge means the reviewer actually bought the product through Inspire Uplift. The purchase is confirmed in our system, making the review more trustworthy since the person definitely received and used the product. Reviews without this badge may still be genuine, but verified reviews carry more credibility.

Q: Why do some products have very few reviews? A: Newer products or items from newer sellers may not have accumulated many reviews yet. Low review count doesn't necessarily mean low quality — it just means fewer customers have shared their experience so far. Check the seller's overall rating across their shop for additional context.

Q: Can I search within reviews for specific keywords? A: Our review system may not offer keyword search within reviews. However, your browser's built-in search (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) can search the page for specific words. Try searching for terms like "size," "quality," "shipping," or "color" to jump to relevant review comments.

Q: I think a review is fake or inappropriate. Can I report it? A: Yes. If you spot a review that contains offensive language, spam, false information, or seems fraudulent, look for a "Report" option on the review. If you don't see one, contact us with the product link and the review in question and we'll investigate. See our article: How Do I Report an Inappropriate Review?
