How do I clear my browser cache?

Step-by-step instructions for better site performance.

Clearing your cache takes about 30 seconds and fixes most website issues — slow loading, display problems, cart glitches, and checkout errors. Your browser stores temporary copies of website files (images, scripts, styles) to speed up repeat visits. Over time, this data can become outdated or corrupted, causing the site to behave incorrectly. Clearing it forces your browser to download fresh files. Here's how.

How to Clear Cache by Browser

Google Chrome:

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
  2. Set time range to "All time"
  3. Check "Cached images and files" (also check "Cookies and other site data" if you're having login or cart issues)
  4. Click "Clear data"
  5. Refresh the page

Apple Safari (Mac):

  1. Click Safari > Clear History in the menu bar
  2. Choose time range (select "all history" for the most thorough clear)
  3. Click "Clear History"
  4. Refresh the page

Apple Safari (iPhone/iPad):

  1. Open Settings > Safari
  2. Tap "Clear History and Website Data"
  3. Confirm
  4. Return to Safari and reload the page

Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
  2. Set time range to "Everything"
  3. Check "Cache" (and "Cookies" if needed)
  4. Click "Clear Now"
  5. Refresh the page

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete
  2. Set time range to "All time"
  3. Check "Cached images and files" (and "Cookies" if needed)
  4. Click "Clear now"
  5. Refresh the page

Mobile Chrome (Android):

  1. Tap the three-dot menu > Settings > Privacy and Security
  2. Tap "Clear browsing data"
  3. Select "All time" and check "Cached images and files"
  4. Tap "Clear data"

What Clearing Cache Does

What it removes: Temporary website files (images, scripts, stylesheets) stored by your browser. These are copies of website content that your browser saved to load pages faster on repeat visits.

What it doesn't remove: Your bookmarks, saved passwords (unless you specifically select them), download history, and account data. Your Inspire Uplift account, orders, wishlist, and all personal data are stored on our servers — not in your browser cache. Nothing about your account is affected.

What to expect after clearing: The first time you load a website after clearing cache, it may take a moment longer than usual as fresh files are downloaded. After that initial load, everything returns to normal speed. If you also cleared cookies, you'll need to log back into websites, including Inspire Uplift.

When to Clear Your Cache

If the website isn't loading properly — pages look broken, images are missing, or the layout seems wrong.

If your cart is acting up — items not adding, cart showing old items, or quantities not updating.

If checkout isn't working — errors during payment, forms not responding, or the page freezing.

If you're seeing outdated information — old prices, sold-out items still appearing available, or content that doesn't match what you'd expect.

If you've been told to clear cache by support — it's one of the most common and effective troubleshooting steps.

As general maintenance — clearing cache every few months keeps your browser running smoothly across all websites.

Cache vs. Cookies: What's the Difference?

Cache stores copies of website files (images, code) to speed up loading. Clearing it forces your browser to download fresh files. You stay logged in.

Cookies store session data (login status, cart contents, preferences). Clearing cookies logs you out of websites and empties session-based carts.

When to clear just cache: The site looks wrong or loads slowly, but your login and cart are fine.

When to clear both: You're having login loops, cart persistence problems, or errors that clearing cache alone didn't fix. You'll need to log back in afterward.

If Clearing Cache Doesn't Fix the Issue

Try a different browser. If the problem persists after clearing cache, the issue may be browser-specific — an extension, a setting, or a compatibility problem.

Disable extensions. Ad blockers and privacy tools can interfere with website functionality. Try disabling them temporarily.

Update your browser. An outdated browser can cause issues that clearing cache won't solve.

Try incognito/private mode. This uses a completely clean session with no cache, cookies, or extensions. If the site works in private mode, the problem is in your regular browser's stored data or extensions.

Contact us. If nothing helps, the issue may be on our end. Let us know what's happening, what you've tried, and your browser/device details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I lose my Inspire Uplift account if I clear cache? A: No. Your account, orders, wishlist, and all data are stored on our servers, not in your browser. Clearing cache (and even cookies) only removes locally stored temporary files. Log back in and everything is exactly as you left it.

Q: How often should I clear my cache? A: Only when you're experiencing issues, or as occasional maintenance every few months. There's no need to clear it daily or weekly.

Q: Can I clear cache for just one website? A: Yes — most browsers let you clear data for a specific site. See our article: How Do I Clear Cookies for Inspire Uplift Only? The same approach works for cache.

Q: Does clearing cache on my phone work the same way? A: Yes. Mobile browsers have the same cache system. On the Inspire Uplift app, clearing cache is done through your phone's Settings > Apps > Inspire Uplift > Storage > Clear Cache (Android). On iPhone, reinstalling the app achieves the same result.
