Yes! We accept most prepaid cards for purchases on Inspire Uplift. Prepaid cards are a great option for budget-conscious shopping, gift purchases, and anyone who prefers not to use a traditional credit or debit card online.
Requirements for Using a Prepaid Card
For your prepaid card to work at checkout, it needs to meet these requirements:
Sufficient Balance: Your card must have enough balance to cover the full order total, including product price, shipping (free for Perks members), and applicable taxes. If your balance is even a few cents short, the transaction will be declined — partial payments from a single card are not supported.
Registered for Online Use: Many prepaid cards need to be registered before they can be used for online purchases. This usually means:
- Going to the card issuer's website (printed on the back of the card)
- Creating an account and registering the card
- Entering your name and a billing address
- This billing address must match what you enter at checkout
Valid Expiration Date:
- Check the expiration date printed on your card
- Expired cards will be declined even if they have a balance
Enabled for E-Commerce:
- Some prepaid cards are restricted to in-store use only
- Check with the card issuer or look at the card packaging to confirm online purchases are allowed
- Cards purchased specifically as "online" or "virtual" gift cards are usually fine
How to Use a Prepaid Card at Checkout
- Add items to your cart and proceed to checkout
- Enter your shipping address
- In the payment section, select credit/debit card
- Enter your prepaid card number, expiration date, and CVV (the 3-digit code on the back)
- For billing address, enter the exact address you registered with the card issuer — even small differences can cause a decline
- Complete your order
Tip: Copy the card number carefully. Prepaid card numbers are long and easy to mistype.

Cards that may not work:
- Store-specific gift cards (Walmart gift cards, Target gift cards, etc.) — These only work at those specific stores
- Prepaid cards not enabled for online transactions
- Cards without a registered billing address
- International prepaid cards in some cases — depends on the issuer
Troubleshooting Prepaid Card Issues
Card Declined — Common Causes and Fixes:
"Insufficient Funds"
- Check your card balance before ordering — call the number on the back of the card or check online
- Remember that your order total includes taxes and shipping (unless you're a Perks member with free shipping)
- If your balance is close to the total, it may not cover the authorization hold (some processors temporarily hold slightly more than the purchase amount)
"Billing Address Mismatch"
- The billing address at checkout must match exactly what's registered with the card
- Common issues: "Street" vs "St.", "Apartment" vs "Apt.", missing unit number
- If you haven't registered an address, visit the card issuer's website to register one
"Card Not Accepted" or "Invalid Card"
- Make sure the card is activated — some prepaid cards require activation by phone or online before first use
- Check that the card is enabled for online/e-commerce purchases
- Verify the card number, expiration date, and CVV are entered correctly
- Try removing any spaces when entering the card number
"Transaction Declined" With No Specific Reason
- Your card issuer may have blocked the transaction as a security measure
- Call the number on the back of your card and ask them to authorize the purchase
- Try again after speaking with the issuer
- If it still doesn't work, try a different payment method
Card Works In Stores But Not Online
- The card may not be enabled for online transactions

What If My Prepaid Card Doesn't Cover the Full Order?
Since we can't split a single order across multiple payment methods from the same type, here are your options if your prepaid card balance is less than your order total:
- Reduce your order — Remove items until the total fits your card balance, and place a separate order for the remaining items with a different payment method
- Use PayPal — Add your prepaid card as a funding source in PayPal, then add another payment method as backup. PayPal can sometimes split across funding sources
- Use a different payment method — Pay with a credit card, debit card, or other accepted method and save your prepaid card balance for a future smaller purchase
- Buy an Inspire Uplift gift card — Contact us to ask about purchasing a gift card with your prepaid card, then combine the gift card wallet balance with another payment method at checkout
