Gift receipt options vary by seller, but we can help you get your gift delivered without the recipient seeing the price. Since Inspire Uplift is a marketplace with thousands of independent sellers, each seller handles packaging and documentation differently. Here's how to request a gift receipt, alternative ways to keep pricing hidden, and what to do if you need documentation for a gift return.

What Is a Gift Receipt?

A gift receipt is a version of your order receipt that shows what was purchased but omits the price you paid. It's useful when you're sending a gift directly to someone and want them to have a record of the purchase (for returns or exchanges) without seeing the cost.

On Inspire Uplift, there isn't a universal "gift receipt" button at checkout. But there are several effective ways to achieve the same result — keeping pricing hidden while still giving the recipient what they need.

How to Request a Gift Receipt

Option 1: Contact Us Immediately After Ordering

The most reliable way to get a gift receipt is to contact us right after placing your order:

  1. Place your order as normal, using the recipient's address as the shipping address
  2. Contact us immediately with your order number
  3. Request a "gift packing slip with no pricing"
  4. If the order hasn't shipped yet, we'll coordinate with the seller to remove pricing from any documentation included in the package

The sooner you reach out after ordering, the better. Once a package is sealed and handed to the carrier, we can't change what's inside.

Option 2: Contact the Seller Directly

Before or immediately after placing your order, message the seller through the product page:

  1. Click "Contact Seller" or "Message Seller" on the product page
  2. Let them know the order is a gift
  3. Ask them to exclude pricing from the packing slip
  4. If ordering a personalized item, this is a good time to mention the gift request alongside your customization details

Many sellers are happy to accommodate gift requests — they deal with gift orders regularly, especially around holidays. Sellers typically respond within 1-3 business days, so reaching out before ordering gives them the most time to prepare.

Option 3: Add a Note at Checkout

If the checkout process includes an order notes field, you can write "This is a gift — please do not include pricing in the package." Not all sellers check order notes, so this works best as a supplementary step alongside contacting us or the seller directly.

What Comes in the Package By Default

Understanding what's normally included in a shipment helps you plan:

What the recipient might see:

  • The product itself
  • A packing slip (some sellers include these, others don't)
  • Seller-specific inserts like thank you cards, care instructions, or business cards

What the recipient won't see by default:

  • Your order confirmation email (goes to your email, not theirs)
  • Your payment details or billing information
  • Tracking emails (sent to your email address)
  • Your account information

About packing slips: Not all sellers include packing slips in their shipments. Many sellers, especially those shipping smaller items, only include the product — no paperwork at all. If the seller does include a packing slip, it may or may not show pricing depending on the seller's default settings.

The reality is that many gift orders arrive without any visible pricing even if you don't request a gift receipt. But if you want to be certain, contacting us or the seller is the safest approach.

Alternatives to a Traditional Gift Receipt

If a formal gift receipt isn't available, these alternatives accomplish the same goals:

Forward Your Order Confirmation (Edited) You can forward the order confirmation email to the recipient after editing out the pricing. Most email apps let you forward and edit the content before sending. Remove the price, total, and payment information, leaving just the item description and order number. This gives the recipient the order number they'd need for a return without revealing what you paid.

Screenshot the Order Details (Cropped) Take a screenshot of your order page showing the item name and order number, then crop out the pricing before sharing with the recipient. This works well as a quick digital "gift receipt."

Share Just the Order Number If the recipient ever needs to contact us about the item (for a return, defect, or question), they only need the order number. You can share the order number with them on a gift card or note without sharing any pricing details. Our support team can look up the order and help them without revealing the amount paid.

Print a Gift Message Instead Rather than a receipt, include a personal note with your gift. You can print a simple card that says "A gift for you from [Your Name]" with the order number written small on the back for reference. This feels more personal than a receipt and still provides the information needed for returns.

Gift Returns With or Without a Gift Receipt

If the recipient needs to return a gift, here's how it works:

If they have the order number: They can contact us with the order number and we'll assist with the return. We don't need a physical receipt — the order number is sufficient to locate the purchase and process a return.

If they don't have the order number: The recipient can contact us with details about the item (description, approximate delivery date, their address), and we can usually locate the order. It takes a bit longer but we'll find it.

Where the refund goes: Refunds for gift returns go back to the original payment method — meaning your credit card or PayPal account, not the recipient's. If you'd prefer the recipient receive store credit instead (so they can choose something they like better), let us know when the return is initiated and we can arrange that.

Return policy still applies: Gift items follow the same 14-day return policy as regular purchases. Items must be unused and in original condition with packaging. Some items like personalized products, intimate apparel, and digital downloads are not returnable regardless of whether they were gifts.

Gift Receipts for Business and Corporate Gifts

If you're purchasing gifts for employees, clients, or corporate events and need formal documentation without pricing, contact us with your order details and specific documentation needs. We can work with sellers to provide appropriate packing slips for corporate gifts and help coordinate bulk gift orders with proper documentation.

For tax documentation purposes, you can access your full receipts (with pricing) through your account under "My Orders." The recipient doesn't need to see these — they're available only through your account.

Holiday Gift Season Tips

During peak gift-giving seasons, sellers receive a higher volume of orders and special requests. To make sure your gift receipt request is handled:

Contact us or the seller as early as possible — don't wait until the day before shipping. The more lead time, the better.

Order early. During November-December, Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day, processing and shipping take longer. Build in extra time so you're not stressed about delivery timing on top of gift receipt requests.

Be specific in your request. Instead of just "this is a gift," say "Please do not include any pricing, invoices, or cost information in the package. This is a gift." Clear instructions reduce the chance of miscommunication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a gift receipt option at checkout? A: There isn't a universal gift receipt checkbox at checkout. The best way to ensure pricing is excluded is to contact us or the seller immediately after ordering with your order number and gift receipt request. We'll coordinate with the seller before the package ships.

Q: Will the recipient know how much I paid even without a gift receipt? A: Not through our system. All order confirmation and tracking emails go to your email address, not the recipient's. If you request that pricing be excluded from the packing slip, there's no way for the recipient to see the cost unless they search for the product online and check the current listing price.

Q: What if I forgot to request a gift receipt before the order shipped? A: If the order already shipped, we can't change what's inside the package. However, many sellers don't include packing slips with pricing by default, so there's a good chance no price is visible anyway. If the recipient does see pricing, it's not ideal but it's not the end of the world — the thought behind the gift is what matters.

Q: Can the recipient exchange a gift for a different size or color? A: Direct exchanges aren't available on our platform. The recipient would need to return the original item (following our 14-day return policy) and then you or they would place a new order for the preferred size or color. Contact us to coordinate — we'll make it as smooth as possible.

Q: I'm sending gifts to multiple people. Can I get gift receipts for all of them? A: Yes. Place separate orders for each recipient and contact us with all order numbers, noting that each is a gift and needs pricing excluded from the packing slip. We'll coordinate with the sellers for each order.

Q: Does requesting a gift receipt cost extra? A: No. There's no charge for requesting that pricing be excluded from your packing slip. Some sellers may charge a small fee for physical gift wrapping if they offer it, but removing pricing from documentation is always free.

Q: Can I get a gift receipt for a digital product? A: Digital products are delivered via download to your account and email, not physically shipped. There's no packing slip involved. If you're gifting a digital product, you'd download it yourself and share the file with the recipient — no pricing is visible to them in this process.
