How do I protect my account?

Best practices for account security.

A strong password, two-factor authentication, and a few smart habits keep your Inspire Uplift account secure. Your account contains personal information, order history, and potentially saved payment methods — protecting it is straightforward and takes just a few minutes to set up properly.

The Three Most Important Steps

1. Use a Strong, Unique Password Your password should be at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Longer is better — 12+ characters is significantly harder to crack. Most importantly, don't reuse a password from another website. If that other site has a data breach, attackers try those stolen credentials on other sites — including shopping platforms. A unique password for Inspire Uplift means a breach elsewhere doesn't affect your account here.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) This is the single most effective security measure beyond your password:

  1. Go to Account Settings > Security
  2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Follow the setup steps

With 2FA enabled, logging in requires your password plus a second verification step. Even if someone obtains your password, they can't access your account without the second factor. It takes 2 minutes to set up and dramatically improves your security.

3. Use a Password Manager Tools like 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden, or your browser's built-in manager generate strong unique passwords for every site, store them securely, and auto-fill login forms. You only remember one master password — the manager handles the rest. This is the easiest way to maintain strong, unique passwords across all your accounts.

Additional Security Habits

Log out on shared devices. If you use a public computer, a friend's phone, or a work device, always log out when you're done. Never save your password on a shared device.

Be cautious with emails. All legitimate Inspire Uplift emails come from @inspireuplift.com. We will never ask for your password, full card number, or Social Security number. If an email asks for these, it's a scam — don't click links, don't reply. See our article: What If I Receive a Phishing Email?

Monitor your account. Periodically check "My Orders" for unfamiliar orders, review your account settings for changes you didn't make, and watch your bank statements for unexpected charges.

Keep your email account secure too. Your email is the key to password resets. If someone accesses your email, they could reset your Inspire Uplift password. Protect your email with a strong password and 2FA as well.

Update your password periodically. While a strong unique password with 2FA doesn't strictly require regular changes, updating every 6-12 months is good practice. Always change your password immediately if you suspect it's been compromised.

Warning Signs of a Compromised Account

Act immediately if you notice:

  • Orders you didn't place in your order history
  • Account information changed without your knowledge (email, password, addresses)
  • Password reset emails you didn't request
  • Charges on your payment method you don't recognize
  • Login notifications from unfamiliar devices or locations

What to do:

  1. Change your password immediately
  2. Enable 2FA if you haven't already
  3. Check "My Orders" for unauthorized purchases
  4. Review and remove any unfamiliar saved addresses or payment methods
  5. Contact us with details of the suspicious activity

We'll investigate, cancel any unauthorized orders, and help secure your account. See our article: What If Someone Else Used My Account?

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the most important thing I can do right now? A: Enable 2FA. It takes 2 minutes (Account Settings > Security) and is the single biggest security upgrade you can make. A strong unique password is second.

Q: I use the same password everywhere. How bad is that? A: It's a significant risk. If any one of those sites has a data breach, attackers will try your credentials on other sites. Start by changing your Inspire Uplift password to something unique, then gradually update your other important accounts. A password manager makes this manageable.

Q: Can someone hack my account through public WiFi? A: Our site uses SSL encryption, which protects your connection to us on any network. The bigger risk on public WiFi is someone seeing your screen as you type your password. Use a VPN for broader protection, and avoid logging into accounts on public computers.

Q: How do I know if my password is strong enough? A: If it's 12+ characters, includes mixed character types, isn't based on personal information (name, birthday, pet), and isn't used on any other website, it's strong. Password managers can generate and evaluate password strength for you.
