Why do prices change?

Understanding price fluctuations.

Prices on Inspire Uplift can change from time to time — and if you've noticed a product you were looking at is now a different price, we understand that can be frustrating. Here's why it happens and how to make sure you get the best deal.

Why Prices Fluctuate on a Marketplace

Inspire Uplift is a marketplace with 55,000+ independent sellers, and each seller sets and manages their own prices. Unlike a traditional retailer with centralized pricing, our marketplace prices are determined by thousands of individual business owners making their own decisions.

This means prices can change for a variety of reasons — and they can go both up and down.

Reasons Prices May Go Up

A Sale or Promotion Ended: This is the most common reason. If you saw a product at a lower price and it's now higher, the seller's promotional period likely ended and the price returned to its regular level.

Increased Demand: When a product becomes popular and inventory is limited, sellers may adjust pricing to reflect demand — similar to how any business prices products based on supply and demand.

Seller Cost Changes: Independent sellers manage their own costs including materials, manufacturing, and shipping. If their costs increase, they may need to adjust their prices accordingly.

Limited Remaining Stock: Some sellers raise prices slightly when they're running low on inventory, especially for items that take time to restock.

Seasonal Pricing: Certain products cost more during peak seasons — holiday items in December, outdoor products in summer, back-to-school supplies in August. Sellers adjust pricing to reflect seasonal demand.

Reasons Prices May Go Down

New Sale or Promotion: Sellers frequently run promotions, flash sales, and limited-time discounts. Checking back regularly can lead to finding better prices.

Seasonal Markdowns: After peak seasons, sellers often reduce prices on seasonal inventory. Post-holiday and end-of-season sales can offer significant savings.

Competitive Adjustments: Sellers may lower prices to stay competitive with similar products on the marketplace. More sellers offering similar items generally means better prices for you.

Inventory Clearance: Sellers making room for new products may discount existing inventory. These clearance prices can be excellent deals.

Important Pricing Policies

The Price at Checkout Is Your Price: Whatever the price shows when you complete your purchase, that's what you pay. Prices cannot be changed on an order after it's been placed — if a price drops after you buy, the original price stands, and if a price increases after you buy, you got the better deal.

We Cannot Honor Previous Prices: If a product's price changes between when you viewed it and when you go to purchase, we cannot retroactively apply the old price. Product prices are determined by sellers in real-time.

No Post-Purchase Price Adjustments: We're unable to issue credits or refunds based on price drops that occur after your order is placed. The marketplace is dynamic, and prices reflect the moment of purchase.

How to Get the Best Prices

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: A product I bought last week is now cheaper. Can I get a refund for the difference? A: We're unable to offer retroactive price adjustments. Marketplace prices change frequently based on seller decisions, promotions, and demand. The price at the time of your purchase is your final price.

Q: Why does the same product have different prices from different sellers? A: Since each seller sets their own prices, you may see the same or similar products at different price points. This actually benefits you — compare listings and choose the best combination of price, seller rating, and shipping time.

Q: A price changed while the item was in my cart. Which price do I pay? A: You pay the price shown at the time you complete checkout, not the price when you added it to your cart. Cart prices can update if a seller changes their pricing. Always review your order total before clicking "Place Order."

Q: Is there a way to get notified when a specific product goes on sale? A: Add the item to your wishlist and check back periodically. You can also sign up for our email newsletter to hear about marketplace-wide sales and promotions.

Q: Do Perks members get lower prices? A: Perks members don't see different product prices, but they effectively pay less on every order through free shipping and 2% cashback. Perks members also get access to exclusive member-only deals and early sale notifications.

Q: Are flash sale prices guaranteed for a certain time? A: Flash sales are typically time-limited and may also be quantity-limited. When a flash sale is active, you'll usually see a countdown timer or "ends soon" notice. Once the sale ends or the allocated inventory is sold, prices return to normal.
