Why don't I see my local currency?

Understanding currency display and conversion.

All prices on Inspire Uplift are displayed in US Dollars (USD). We don't currently offer multi-currency display, but your bank or credit card company handles the conversion to your local currency automatically when you make a purchase. Here's how it works and what to expect.

How Currency Conversion Works

When you place an order, the charge is processed in USD. Your bank or credit card company then converts the USD amount to your local currency at their current exchange rate. The converted amount appears on your bank statement in your local currency. This happens automatically — you don't need to do anything.

The exchange rate used is determined by your bank, not by us. Banks typically use a rate close to the mid-market rate, though some apply a small markup. The rate is applied at the time the transaction is processed, which may be a day or two after you place the order.

Estimating Your Cost in Local Currency

Before purchasing, you can get an approximate cost in your local currency by searching Google for the conversion — type something like "25 USD to EUR" or "50 USD to GBP" for an instant estimate. Use a currency converter app like XE or Revolut for real-time rates. Check your bank's currency conversion rate — some banks publish their rates online.

Keep in mind that the rate you see on a converter may differ slightly from what your bank charges, but it gives you a solid ballpark figure.

Foreign Transaction Fees

Some banks and credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee (typically 1-3%) on international purchases made in a different currency. This fee is charged by your bank, not by Inspire Uplift — we have no control over it.

How to avoid foreign transaction fees: Use a credit card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees — many travel cards and premium cards waive this fee. Check with your card issuer before shopping if you're unsure. Use PayPal, which may offer its own conversion rate and fee structure that's sometimes more favorable than your bank's. Some digital banks (Revolut, Wise, N26) offer accounts with low or no foreign transaction fees and competitive exchange rates.

Why We Use USD

As a US-based company headquartered in Miami, Florida, our marketplace operates in USD. This provides a consistent pricing standard across our global marketplace, clear pricing for our 55,000+ sellers who set their prices in one currency, and simplified transaction processing.

While we understand multi-currency display would be convenient for international customers, USD pricing keeps things straightforward for both buyers and sellers across 200+ countries.

PayPal Currency Conversion

If you pay with PayPal, you may see two options during checkout — pay in USD and let your bank convert, or let PayPal convert to your local currency. PayPal shows its own exchange rate and any conversion fee upfront so you can compare.

Tip: Compare PayPal's conversion rate with your bank's rate. Sometimes PayPal's rate is better, sometimes your bank's is. Choosing whichever offers the better rate saves you a small amount on each purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will prices ever be displayed in my local currency? A: We're always considering ways to improve the international shopping experience. Multi-currency display is something we may offer in the future, but currently all prices are in USD.

Q: I was charged a different amount than what was shown at checkout. Why? A: The checkout total is in USD. The amount on your bank statement is the USD total converted to your local currency by your bank, plus any foreign transaction fee your bank charges. Slight differences between the checkout amount and your statement are due to exchange rate fluctuations and bank fees.

Q: Do refunds come back in my local currency? A: Refunds are processed in USD. Your bank converts the refund amount back to your local currency. Due to exchange rate fluctuations between the purchase date and refund date, the refunded amount in your local currency may be slightly more or less than what you originally paid. This is normal and is determined by your bank's rates, not by us.

Q: Does Perks membership pricing show in my currency? A: Perks is $4.97 USD per month. Your bank converts this to your local currency on each billing date. The converted amount may vary slightly month to month due to exchange rate changes.

Q: I'm seeing prices that seem very high or very low. Is something wrong? A: All prices are in USD. If a price seems unusually high, you may be mentally comparing it to your local currency without converting. Conversely, if a price seems low, it may be an affordable item that's an even better deal in your local currency. Always convert to your currency before judging value.
